Notes: Operated a shoestore in Marostica during the war, but also spied and informed on the partisans in the mountains. On Sunday morning, 23 November 1943, Alfonso was murdered by a blow to the head by partisans on the turnpike between Vallonata and Asiago. Troops of the Republican Guard of the Republic of Salo brought his body down to Marostica, where it was placed in the mortuary chapel in the castle. Reprisals for his murder began that day, with anti-fascists from the city and surrounding area rounded up and the city burned. 300 German troops were then assigned to Marostica, imposing restrictions and a curfew on the city. |
